KMC Drinking Water Tap & Drainage Connection: Application, Charges & Inspection
📋 Quick Facts & Directory Essentials
Access to safe, potable municipal drinking water and modern sanitation is a fundamental civic necessity. The Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) manages an extensive piped water network supplying over 40 million liters per day (MLD) of treated drinking water sourced from the Godavari River via the Samalkot canal feeder system and treated at centralized filtration plants at Aratlakatta. Simultaneously, the city's expanding Underground Drainage (UGD) project connects households to sewage treatment plants, replacing outdated septic tank soak pits.
Types of Connections & Statutory Deposit Charges
KMC categorizes municipal water supply connections into residential domestic categories and commercial industrial tiers:
| Category | Pipe Size | One-Time Security Deposit | Monthly Water Tariff |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPL / EWS Residential | 0.5 Inch (15 mm) | ₹200 (Concessional Scheme) | ₹50 per month |
| Standard Domestic (Individual House) | 0.5 Inch (15 mm) | ₹6,000 - ₹8,000 | ₹120 per month |
| Multi-Family Residential Apartments | 1.0 Inch (25 mm) | ₹25,000 - ₹45,000 | Metered Bulk Rate |
| Commercial / Hotels / Nursing Homes | 1.0 to 2.0 Inch | ₹35,000 - ₹75,000+ | Commercial Metered Slabs |
